The glow of pregnancy that some women are lucky enough to radiate is a result of increase secretion of oils brought on by hormonal changes. Unfortunately, for some the experience is less-than-glowing and as a result breakout during their pregnancy. Those skin imperfections are hard to eliminate, but the following suggestions keep you from resembling your high school yearbook picture:
*Wash your face with a botanical or gentle cleanser. Since your skin is extra sensitive during pregnancy, avoid being aggressive with scrubs, since your may be more susceptible to breakouts.
*Make sure to check with your practitioner with the acne medication you are using (topical or oral). Some are considered safe others or not.
*Use an oil free moisturizer to keep skin hydrated. My choice: is Arbonne FC5 Oil free botanical moisturizer
*Choose skin care products and cosmetics that are oil free and labeled “non-comedogenic” and “botanical”. You want skin products that don’t clog pores.
*Keep everything that touches your face clean, including those makeup brushes in your cosmetic bag !
*Do NOT pop or pick your pimples ! It won’t make them go away and can actually make them stick around longer by pushing bacteria back down into the scar. Plus, when you are pregnant you are more prone to infections.
*Eat well – food intake should include fruits and vegetables in your pregnancy diet.
*Drink water – it helps keep your skin moist and clear.
